Overview

I am an assistant professor in an undergraduate health sciences program, where I focus on teaching research methods, evidence-based practice, and scientific writing to aspiring healthcare professionals. In my role, I strive to help students build the skills they need to critically evaluate research, apply evidence to practice, and communicate scientific ideas clearly and effectively. I am passionate about making research approachable and relevant, especially for students who may feel intimidated by the complexity of scientific literature.

Before transitioning into academia, I spent the early part of my career working as a research dietitian. In that role, I collaborated closely with investigators to support the planning and execution of clinical trials. This experience gave me a strong foundation in study design, data collection, and the practical challenges of conducting research in real-world settings. It also deepened my appreciation for the importance of rigorous methodology and ethical research practices.

My doctoral work focused on the implementation and evaluation of a competency-based education program for training registered dietitians. Through this work, I explored effective teaching strategies, identified best practices, and examined the facilitators and barriers to successful program implementation. This experience continues to inform my teaching approach, as I aim to create learning environments that are engaging, evidence-based, and responsive to student needs.

Overall, my professional journey has shaped my commitment to bridging the gap between research and practice, while preparing students to become thoughtful, skilled, and evidence-driven healthcare professionals.
