Overview

Dr. Heitman is an assistant professor in the undergraduate health sciences program who specializes in teaching research methods, evidence-based practice, and scientific writing skills to aspiring healthcare professionals. She spent the first part of her career working as a research dietitian, supporting investigators in the planning and execution of clinical trials. Her doctoral work focused on implementation and evaluation of the a new competency-based education program for training registered dietitians which elucidated effective teaching methods, best practices, and facilitators/barriers to program implementation.
