Overview

I am an experienced Health Information Management professional with extensive experience in traditional HIMS work environments. My past experiences include coding, correcting NCCI edits for Medicare, chart prepping and scanning, chart indexing, chart analysis, adjunct teaching, Six Sigma projects, assisting with birth certificates, and working in a veterinary emergency hospital checking in patients along with other responsibilities.

I also have a strong passion for learning. I earned my bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 2012, graduating with a BS in Health Information Management and Systems and a minor in Business. Upon graduation, I also earned my RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) credential. In 2015, I completed my MBA with an emphasis in leadership from Ursuline College. While completing my MBA, I worked as an adjunct faculty member at Fortis College, where I taught medical terminology and laboratory simulations. At the same time, I was working at Cleveland Clinic as a Health Information Specialist. During my time there, I participated in a Six Sigma project to improve chart scanning and indexing across the network and played an instrumental role in presenting findings to leadership. I was also an active member of GOAL (Group of Aspiring Leaders) at the Cleveland Clinic.

Currently, I serve as an Instructor of Practice and Clinical Coordinator for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the Ohio State University College of Medicine within the HIMS program. I teach HIMS 4689, a course for HIMS seniors that focuses on their professional practice experience. In addition, I teach HIMS 3589, HIMS 5635, and HIMS 5660. I am also a BuckIPE facilitator, a member of the Clinical Coordination Committee, and the advisor for the HIMS Student Organization. Beyond these roles, I am an active member of American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and Ohio Health Information Management Association (OHIMA).
