Category M

A faculty member who holds M-status is able to advise Master’s students and serve on committees of both Master’s and PhD students. 

Category P

A faculty member who holds P-status is able to advise PhD and Master’s students and serve on committees of both Master’s and PhD level students.

MS in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

All MS students, whether Thesis or Non-Thesis, should work with their faculty advisor to choose committee members whose expertise aids their research. The committee is comprised of at least 3 Ohio State graduate faculty. The committee chair (advisor) and one other member must have M or P status in HRS. 

PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

All PhD students should work with their faculty advisor to choose committee members whose expertise aids their research. For both the candidacy and dissertation committees, the chair is the student’s advisor who has P status in HRS. An additional committee member must also have P status in HRS.  One of the two P-status faculty must have their primary faculty appointment within HRS. The remaining committee members (at least 2 more) are comprised of any Ohio State graduate faculty with M or P status, but at least 50% of both the candidacy and dissertation committees must be HRS faculty.
