Residents have the unique opportunity to treat patients with diverse oncology diagnoses across the acute care and outpatient continuum at the OSUCCC-James. The resident will spend time at three different, exceptional oncology locations with experienced mentors. This position also includes teaching responsibilities of entry-level oncology course in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Division of Physical Therapy. In addition, the resident will participate in community outreach to cancer survivors and their caregivers. They will also participate in clinical research, completing a case study during their residency year. This position provides the distinctive opportunity to be a member of the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation’s largest public universities. The program is currently in candidacy anticipation for full accredited by the American Board or Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) in 2021.
Compensation and Benefits
The program offers paid staff physical therapist positions at The James Ambulatory Oncology Rehabilitation Department in which the salary is commensurate with revenue-generating clinical time. Full benefits of this position include health insurance, liability insurance and assistance for professional development. Funding to attend the American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Section Meeting is offered to all residents.Eligibility
- Eligible for physical therapy licensure in the state of Ohio (required having by the start of the residency)
- Hold current/valid CPR certification
- Pass background check
- Pass pre-employment physical
Application
Applications should be completed through the American Physical Therapy Association’s centralized application system. Top candidates will be interviewed on Ohio State’s campus during January and February.
