The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences are proud to announce the creation of an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Fellowship Program providing an innovative hand and upper extremity fellowship. The program will seek accreditation by the AOTA.
The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center accepts one fellow for a 12-month program that begins every January. The Occupational Therapy (OT) fellowship supports the missions of both the AOTA and the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, by preparing clinicians to work and seek certification in the specialty of hand therapy. This will be achieved through mentored learning to enhance specialty skills, knowledge and professional behaviors in hand therapy.
The fellow will have the unique opportunity to treat patients with diverse hand and upper extremity diagnoses.
- In addition to clinical time with experienced certified hand therapists, the fellow will:
- Shadow distinguished hand surgeons and advanced practitioners during office hours and surgery
- Attend regular fellowship conference
- Teach in the Division of Occupational Therapy Entry-Level OTD program at Ohio State
- Participate in hands-on splinting lab
- Collaborate with OSUWMC OT and PT post-professional programs
- Spend time as an instructor and mentored colleague in our nationally ranked Doctorate of Occupational Therapy Program. As one of the most established and respected OT programs in the country, we boast outstanding faculty that are committed to promoting scholarship, leadership and evidence-based practice in occupational therapy.
