The in-person MLT to MLS Bachelor of Science degree program is designed for certified Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) who want to advance their education and career opportunities by earning a Bachelor of Science degree and becoming eligible for the MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification exam through Route 2 eligibility.
To meet eligibility requirements for the MLS (ASCP) exam under Route 2, students must be certified as an MLT, obtain a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have at least 2 years of clinical lab experience within the last 5 years. Experience must cover all areas of the lab. Ohio State’s in-person degree completion program allows students to complete the bachelor’s degree requirement in as little as two years depending on the amount of general education (GE) and prerequisite courses completed before enrolling.
A Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science can lead to a rewarding career in a growing field, with job stability and opportunities for advancement. You'll play a critical role in diagnosing and treating diseases and contributing to important medical research.
