Before You Apply
Are you ready to become a Buckeye? We understand that starting or continuing your education at Ohio State is a huge undertaking. Because of that, we want to make sure you have access to the information you need to make informed decisions.
Students who have completed or are in the process of completing the program prerequisites and wish to apply must have the following:
- 2.5 cumulative GPA and
- All of the following program prerequisite courses (6 total) or their equivalent with a C- or better by the end of the term prior to enrollment in the professional program.

The coursework provided does not include all available options. Students should speak to an academic advisor in SHRS to determine what courses or transfer credits will be accepted.
NOTE: If you are currently taking pre-requisite courses at an outside institution, you will need to provide an unofficial transcript from that institution along with your application, as proof that you are in the process of completing the necessary pre-requisites. Failure to do this, may result in being denied admission to the program.
Students who would like their previous education to be evaluated should complete the Pre-requisite evaluation form through Ohio State’s Graduate and Professional Admissions Office.
Students who complete an official pre-requisite evaluation should anticipate a 4-6 week turnaround time.

Students can make an in-person or phone appointment with an SHRS advisor to discuss program information and previous coursework completed. Transcripts are always welcome during appointments as they can be a useful tool in advisement. However, all advisor evaluations of coursework are considered unofficial.
Ohio’s Credit When It’s Due initiative was created to assist eligible students to obtain an Associate Degree through Ohio’s public institutions. Students can earn this degree while working towards a bachelor’s degree or by working with a previously attended 2 year college. Students should contact any previously attended institution to learn more.

An Associate Degree is not required to start in the Health Sciences Program. However, students who hold an Associate Degree that are part of the Health Sciences program will be able to waive coursework required by the program. This will shorten the time to graduation. *Students are highly encouraged to apply by the priority deadline to the Health Sciences program. This will help the Health Sciences division accommodate scheduling preferences and give students access to both online and on campus classes. It also assists the Health Sciences division in forecasting course demands. Applications are evaluated on a continuous basis for each term. However, it may take up to six weeks to process each application and for a decision to be made.

The Health Sciences Program requires the completion of a minor to allow students to explore other areas of academic interests. Most minors consist of 12+ credit hours, and can sometimes overlap with a GE course. Students with an Associate Degree are not required to complete a minor.
