261fellowshipsupportingThe Graduate School offers fellowship opportunities for new, incoming graduate students. All Graduate School fellowships provide a monthly stipend, academic tuition and fees, and a subsidy of 85% of the student health insurance premiums. These fellowships are nonrenewable and may not be deferred.

Students are nominated for fellowship consideration by their prospective graduate programs in early January, prior to starting their graduate studies. Students may not apply directly for fellowship support. Each graduate program has a limited number of students who may be nominated for fellowship consideration.

Admission applications must be completed by the end of November for international applicants and by mid-January for domestic applicants.

Selection and Decisions

Fellowship selection is made through a university-wide competition by a faculty committee as well as through an allocation of some fellowships to the individual colleges for more localized choice. Fellowship award decisions are released to the graduate programs in mid-February. Students awarded fellowships are notified by the Graduate School in early March.

Criteria

Following is a list of the Graduate School fellowships and eligibility criteria for incoming students. Exceptions to these criteria may be made on a case-by-case basis. It is possible that programs may not be able to nominate every student meeting the Graduate School's minimal criteria. Please check with your department regarding their specific deadlines and possible additional criteria.
