Fees
Program Fee: $150 per semester
All students in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (HRS) pay a program fee that helps offset costs of expendable supplies, teaching lab equipment and upkeep, software licensing related to labs and fieldwork, etc.
Health Insurance: $187 – $1725
Required for university enrollment. This cost depends on the plan and assumes health insurance is purchased through the university's student health insurance program. Alternatively, students can provide documentation of coverage through an external plan (e.g., through their parents' insurance).
Immunizations: Cost varies
Required for program enrollment.
Annual Background Check: Cost varies
The initial program background check is proved for free through The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the Department of Athletics. An additional Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprinting background check may be required for some clinical education sites at a cost of $61.50.
Toxicology Screen (Drug Test): $25
Some clinical sites require that students pass a toxicology screening prior to placement. Screenings are available through The Ohio State University Wilce Student Health Center at a discounted cost for HRS students.
First Aid and CPR Certification: Approximately $125 for first year, $35-70 second year
Must renew First Aid Certification every three years and CPR Certification every one-two years. The cost is approximately $125 for the first year and $35-70 for annual updates.
Annual Influenza Vaccination: $25
Approximately $25 through the Ohio State Wilce Student Health Center (free with student health insurance). Students may choose other providers for the vaccine at their discretion.
Student Liability Insurance: Free
Required. Provides liability coverage for all assigned clinical fieldwork.
Uniforms: Cost varies
Students are responsible for purchasing khaki shorts and pants of their own choosing. All other standard uniform items for clinical rotations are provided at no cost through the generosity of the Department of Athletics. One pair of shoes is provided, but we recommend purchasing a second pair.
Transportation: Cost varies
Required clinical experience rotations will be both on and off campus. Required off campus sites are within a 25 mile radius of Atwell Hall on the Columbus campus. The Athletic Training Division does not arrange for student transportation to clinical sites. Students are responsible for arranging transportation to and from these clinical rotations and for all costs involved. Students have the option of choosing immersive clinical sites outside of the Columbus metro area which would incur additional expenses for transportation and housing. Immersive clinical expenses could occur during Block 4 or 6.
Professional Association Membership: $75 per year
Strongly recommended.
BOC Certification Examination: $375 + Application Fee (NATA members $75 and Non-NATA members $100)
Fee to sit for the national credentialing examination. These costs are incurred in the second year.
