You do not have to do this alone

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has the most highly trained team of drug and alcohol addiction experts in central Ohio – dedicated, compassionate specialists including psychiatrists, physicians, nurse practitioners and counselors. With their partnership, you’ll learn new strategies for overcoming old habits and breaking the grip of addiction.

Treatment Options

At Ohio State Talbot Addiction Medicine, we recognize that each individual’s experience with addiction is unique. After a thorough assessment to understand the physical, psychological and social elements of your addiction, we will help you select the type and level of treatment that best matches your needs. This initial assessment is critical to getting you started on the right path to a new substance-free life.

WithdrawalManagement

Withdrawal Management

During a three- to five-day inpatient detoxification process, you’ll be cared for around the clock by registered nurses and see a doctor and counselor each day. All medical needs, including pain and anxiety reduction, will be handled in the safest way possible. Immediate medication management will be used to lessen withdrawal symptoms. Once you are feeling better, you will learn more about your addiction, helpful daily habits, and how to react to triggers.

PartialHospitalization

Partial Hospitalization

After an inpatient stay, many people continue treatment in our partial hospitalization program. This program is a lower cost alternative to overnight hospital care while still providing the structured support you need if you’re not yet ready to make a full return to home or work. You’ll come Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for an average of two to three weeks.

IntensiveOutpatient

Intensive Outpatient

The next level of treatment at Ohio State is intensive outpatient treatment. These sessions are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can choose a morning or evening time so you can maintain family and work responsibilities. Participants generally attend 18 sessions over six weeks. Once you complete this intensive outpatient program, you can transition to a follow-up plan, which could include individual and/or group therapy.

OutpatientProgram

Outpatient Program

We offer both individualized therapy and weekly group therapy, and you can attend either or both. The goal is to help you overcome the compulsion for drugs and maintain daily control. Our specialized groups bring together people with similar experiences for the best level of relatability: men’s and women’s groups, a group for opioid use only and another for people with traumatic brain injury.

MedicationManagement

Medication Management

Throughout all levels of care, you will meet regularly with medical staff to maintain control over any required prescriptions, including those intended for substance use disorders (such Suboxone, Sublocade, and Vivitrol) or psychiatric conditions.
