Our Tissue Archive Service in the Department of Pathology

The Tissue Archive Service (TAS) was established within the Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in June 1998 to serve as the custodian of diagnostic archival formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues and corresponding hematoxylin and eosin stained slides. Since its creation, specimens have been organized and policies have been instituted for the use of diagnostic archival tissues in research, clinical trials, case studies and teaching primarily by Ohio State investigators, physicians, residents and fellows, as well as routine requests for copies of the diagnostic slides by attorneys.

In September of 2007, the Tissue Archive Service became the point of contact for investigators at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center to drop off research specimens. TAS is also the point of contact within Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center, Department of Pathology for requests for medical devices and foreign objects from surgery received by Ohio State's Pathology Gross Room.
